Built To Reach
Why do some people get noticed while others get overlooked?
In Luke 19, a crowd surrounded Jesus, but a lost man in a tree was the one He stopped for. While the crowd created obstacles, Jesus created opportunities. While others complained about grace, Jesus pursued a person.
This message confronts one of the greatest dangers facing every church: becoming so focused on the people already in the room that we forget about the people still outside of it.
Through the story of Zacchaeus, we'll discover four signs that reveal whether we truly have God's heart for reaching people. Do lost people burden us? Are we willing to move toward people instead of waiting for them to come to us? Do we see souls or simply scenery? Have we forgotten what it felt like when someone reached us?
The mission of Jesus was never to make comfortable people more comfortable. His mission was to seek and save the lost.
The question is not whether God loves people.
The question is: Do we love what God loves?
"For the Son of Man came to seek and save that which was lost." — Luke 19:10
